Shoes For Tomorrow, (or the more familiar, TOMS) has been a game changer in the footwear industry. Why? Because of their “One for One” mindset. For every shoe you purchase, they give a pair of shoes to a child in need. For every eye accessory you purchase, they give the gift of sight (via surgery) to someone in need. One for one. Just within the last year, TOMS has now started roasting their own coffee (featured above from a little sample box that was so kindly mailed to me). With every coffee purchase, they give water to someone in need.
TOMS has created a mantra so inspiring, it’s legacy will live on. If you aren’t familiar with it, I suggest checking out their website and products. Not only are they constantly giving back but they have creating products that are high quality. I was going to use a photo for this post of all of the TOMS that are currently in our household… but I thought that would get a little ridiculous. Fun fact : I love shoes, especially TOMS. They have also partnered with amazing organizations to offer even more support to those in need; the marketplace.
The book “Start Something That Matters” which was written by TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie, was one of the initial inspirations for The Simple Cup. And trust me, it feels so good to start something that matters. My absolute favorite line in the book is, “You don’t have to be rich to give back”.
